White Rice: nice air-conditioned Chinese restaurant serving very good cuisine with excellent ambience and with a terrace outside ~ inside Kandawgyi Park

Level 10: the best Singapore food in Myanmar - try the delicious chicken curry ~ 10th floor, FJV Commercial Centre, 422/426 Strand Road. Opposite Botataung Pagoda

Golden City: unpretentious "coffeeshop" style Indian food on Sule Pagoda Road opposite Traders Hotel. Best Indian food and VERY reasonable. Now have a bigger restaurant opposite on the same side of Sule Pagoda Road as Traders Hotel

Padoma Restaurant: very nice setting in an old colonial house with matching good Myanmar and Thai food at reasonable prices and with set menus in addition to A La Carte; eat in the garden or in the airconditioned dining room ~ 78C, Inya Road

Zawgyi House: nice cafe serving a mixture of food at reasonable prices ~ next to Scott's Market on the roadside so it's a good place to watch the world go by. Aircon available also.

Adorn’s Kitchen:  Good Chinese cuisine inside the Grand Mee Yahta Executive Residences on Bogyoke Aung San Street and next to Scott's Market

Golden Duck: "Coffee-shop" style with the best Roasted Duck in Myanmar ~ on Strand Road

Junior Golden Duck: same owners as Golden Duck but with excellent view of the sunset over Yangon River and serves more variety; very good steamed fish ~ Nanthida Jetty, Yangon River (upstairs overlooking river across from the Strand Hotel)

Singapore Kitchen:  very good food at reasonable prices (very good steamed fish): eat outside or upstairs in the air-conditioned section ~ 524, Strand Road

Theik Di Shin: air-conditioned and very good Myanmar cuisine at reasonable prices ~ 331/333, Anawrahta Street

Sandy's: up-market restaurant in Kandawgyi Palace Hotel  (but not a part of the hotel) serving very good Myanmar cuisine Aung Mingalar: very good "Coffeeshop" style Shan Noodle (Beef & Chicken Soup) at VERY reasonable prices ~ 341 Boyar Nyunt Roadd., Dagon Township, near to Grand Plaza Parkroyal and Thamada Hotels

Golden Happy Hot Pot: very reasonable restaurant serving Hot Pot (called Suki Yaki or Steamboat in some countries) ~ 18, Ko Min Ko Chin Road, Bahan Township

7-UP Hot Pot: very reasonably-priced restaurant serving Hot Pot (called Suki Yaki or Steamboat in some countries) and Special Deep Fried Crispy Duck ~ 24, Saya San Road, Bahan Township

Green Elephant Restaurant: garden restaurant serving reasonably-priced Myanmar and Chinese cuisine

Sabai Sabai: very popular Thai restaurant ~ BMB Club Compound, 26, Dhammazedi Road

Le Planteur Restaurant:  top Continental food restaurant in Yangon with top prices to match!  Eat in the garden or in the air-conditioned dining room ~ 16, Sawmaha Road, Bahan Township. US Dollars
